March through October is shark fishing season in Pensacola

March through October is Shark Fishing Season in Pensacola!

The best time of year for shark fishing in Pensacola is March through October when every week is Shark Week! As the waters of the northern Gulf Coast and the Florida Panhandle warm up each spring, schools of fish begin their migration up and along the Florida coast. Countless numbers of hungry sharks follow these schools in constant pursuit of a meal.

A wide variety of shark species spend the entire summer in the warm Gulf waters off the coast of Pensacola, feeding on the schools of fish that also spend the summer here. Many sharks return to the same coastal waters near Pensacola year after year for a guaranteed meal.

As autumn approaches and the waters off the Pensacola coast begin to cool, sharks migrate again but in the opposite direction, following the Florida coastline south along with their prey and ahead of the approaching winter. So remember to schedule your Pensacola shark fishing trip with Captain Kenny from March through October. The hotter the weather, the hotter the shark fishing in Pensacola!

“Keepers” and “Catch and Release”

Federal and state regulations determine whether or not any shark we catch is a “Keeper” or “Catch and Release” only depending on the species, the size of the shark, the season and the catch limit. Captain Kenny is knowledgeable of all current state and federal regulations regarding shark fishing. While we would love to keep and eat everything we catch, the real thrill is the battle with one of the ocean’s fiercest predators. Captain Kenny encourages catch and release of all shark species so there will be plenty around for other anglers to catch but under the right circumstances we can “Keep and Eat”. Either way, shark fishing with Captain Kenny is an exciting experience that you won’t forget!
