Cobia Are Back in Pensacola!
March begins Cobia fishing season Pensacola! Every year as winter fades and Gulf waters warm in the Spring, Cobia migrate north along the Gulf Coast, from their warm winter habitat in South Florida, all the way to the northern Gulf of Mexico to spawn. By the middle of March, Cobia have reached Pensacola and fishing for Cobia is on once again in the Florida Panhandle.
Sight Fishing for Cobia is an Unforgettable Experience! Cobia swim just beneath the waves in nearshore waters as they head west along coast line. These huge fish can reach up to 6 feet in length and weigh well over 100 pounds. (The Florida state record is 130 lbs 1 oz, caught in nearby Destin.)
Cobia frequently swim in the shadows of other sea creatures such as leatherback turtles and even manta rays. Pensacola fishing charter captains like Captain Kenny are experienced at sighting Cobia and catching one on a fishing charter with Captain Kenny can be the fishing memory of a lifetime! Although most commonly caught in Pensacola on nearshore fishing trips, Cobia can even be found inshore in Pensacola Bay and the intracoatal Waterway as well as in the pass connecting Pensacola Bay to the Gulf.
Cobia are as good to eat as they are fun to catch! From the middle of March all the way and all through the month of April, Cobia can be found just off the coast of Pensacola Beach. So book a Pensacola Fishing Charter with Captain Kenny and Let's Go Get 'em!
